Redwood — Oracle’s Design System for Fusion Cloud

Oracle Redwood is Oracle’s next-generation user experience design system — a set of building blocks, components, and design templates that define the look, feel, and interaction patterns of all Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications. Every new Fusion module is built natively on the Oracle Applications Platform using the Redwood Design System.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Oracle Redwood?
Oracle Redwood is Oracle’s next-generation user experience design system — a set of building blocks, components, and design templates that define the look, feel, and interaction patterns of Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications. All new Oracle Fusion Cloud modules are built natively on the Oracle Applications Platform using the Redwood Design System — including HCM Journeys, CX Field Service, and ERP Touchless Expenses. Redwood delivers consumer-grade, responsive, and accessible user experiences across Oracle Fusion Cloud.
A Redwood Application Extension is a customisation or new application built using Oracle Visual Builder Studio that extends Oracle Fusion Cloud Redwood pages. Extensions can change and edit existing Redwood pages or create entirely new Redwood applications deployed with Oracle Fusion. Extensions are integral to the Fusion UI — not iFramed — share Fusion authentication and authorisation, and appear within the existing Fusion application menus as if delivered by Oracle.
The Oracle Applications Platform is the platform Oracle uses to develop Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications — and which Oracle has made available to Fusion customers for their own extensions. It includes Oracle Visual Builder Studio and the Oracle Redwood Design System. Using the Oracle Applications Platform, customers can: modify delivered Oracle Applications Redwood pages; create new Oracle Application pages; create new external applications embedded within Oracle Cloud Applications; and leverage the same security, roles, privileges, and functionality being used by Oracle Cloud Applications.
Express Mode is a simplified VB Studio interface for functional administrators — adding, removing, and reordering fields, setting business rules, and configuring display logic without writing code. Express Mode is supported by HCM, SCM, and Procurement. Advanced Mode exposes all VB Studio developer features — creating new pages, connecting to external REST services, custom JavaScript, and full application logic. Advanced Mode is available for ERP, CX, and standalone application extensions. HCM, SCM, and Procurement support Express Mode only.
eAppSys provides Oracle Redwood development across four areas: Redwood Page Extensions (Express Mode — field additions, business rules, display logic across HCM, SCM, and ERP); Redwood Application Extensions (Advanced Mode — new pages, custom data objects, external REST integrations); VB Studio CI/CD for Redwood (Git repositories, build pipelines, automated Fusion deployment); and REST and OCI Integration (Fusion REST APIs, OCI AI services, and external data source connectivity). Ongoing support via OracleCloudCare.
