Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What Azure DevOps services does eAppSys provide?
eAppSys provides six areas: CI/CD Pipelines (Azure DevOps YAML, GitHub Actions, multi-stage, deployment strategies); Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform, module libraries, policy as code); Azure Monitor and Observability (Log Analytics, alerts, Application Insights, Workbooks, tracing); Cost Management and FinOps (Cost Management, tagging, Reserved Instances, Hybrid Benefit, right-sizing); Platform Engineering (AKS management, Update Manager, Automation, developer platform); and Managed Cloud Operations (24/7 monitoring, incident management, patching, Defender triage, monthly reporting).
eAppSys uses both. Bicep is recommended for Azure-only deployments — tightest Azure integration, immediate new feature support, no state file management. Terraform is recommended for multi-cloud infrastructure, existing HashiCorp enterprise IaC standards, or existing team Terraform expertise. For most Azure-only engagements, eAppSys defaults to Bicep with a modular library aligned to the Azure Landing Zone reference implementation.
eAppSys sets up CI/CD using Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions — both with OIDC federated credentials (no long-lived service principal secrets), multi-stage pipelines with environment approval gates, Azure Key Vault for secrets, and deployment strategies (rolling, blue/green, canary) matched to availability requirements. Infrastructure and application changes have separate pipeline definitions.
Log Analytics Workspace as the central logging destination with retention policy and data source connections; metric and log-based alerts for platform and application health; Application Insights for APM — requests, dependencies, exceptions, and custom events; Azure Workbooks for operational dashboards tailored per workload; and diagnostic settings on all resources routing to Log Analytics.
24/7 or business-hours Azure monitoring with defined SLA response times; incident management with severity-tiered response and root-cause analysis; Azure Update Manager OS patching on a monthly schedule; Defender for Cloud alert triage and remediation; monthly cost optimisation review (right-sizing, Reserved Instances); and a monthly operations report covering availability, incident summary, patch compliance, cost trends, and security posture.
