Oracle Fusion Cloud Security — Application, Data, and Infrastructure

Oracle Fusion Cloud security is not a single layer — it operates across three distinct planes that must be designed, implemented, and maintained cohesively. eAppSys owns all three under a single engagement.

Layer 1 — Application Function Security

Controls what a user can do — which menus, screens, actions, and business functions are accessible. Oracle Fusion uses a role hierarchy: job roles aggregate duty roles which carry privileges. Role design, SoD analysis, and quarterly update role validation all operate at this layer.

Layer 2 — HCM Data Security

Controls which data a user can see — which employees, employment records, payroll results, and absence records are visible. Built on person security profiles and HCM data roles, data security is independent of function security and must be designed separately for every organisation structure.

Layer 3 — OCI Infrastructure Security

Controls access to the OCI platform components supporting Oracle Fusion — IAM policies, compartments, Vault encryption keys, TLS certificates, API keys, Cloud Guard threat detection, Security Zones, and Bastion privileged access. Misconfigurations at this layer expose the entire Fusion environment.
